50 Shades of Black

I often get scolded for wearing too much black and, while I do try to embrace more colour in the Summer months, nothing is going to keep me from my beloved black in the Autumn/Winter months! I do like to add splashes of colour but there is nothing wrong in wearing a good black base. It makes a great canvas for creating your outfit and can take you anywhere. If black gives you confidence, then go for it!

There are lots of meanings behind the colour black as well. Did you know that a ‘melanophile’ is someone who loves the colour black? No, me neither! Every day’s a school day as they say 😊

Black is meant to signify other attributes and characteristics as well. Here are some things I found in my searches:

Beatiful Leopard

Power

It’s a colour that demands seriousness and respect. It can be intimidating, suggesting discipline. It is said to represent a strong-willed and determined character, someone who is not afraid to go after what they want, often seeking power and prestige (apparently!).

Elegance

Black is associated with elegance, style, wealth, and sophistication (I wish!). Black almost always looks good and sleek. It is a timeless choice of colour.

Attractive

Black, like red, is associated with seduction and sexuality. However, black is less obvious about it. It has the combination of attraction, mystery and dominance.

A must for any ensemble…

We’ve got some very fabulous black pieces in the shop right now. They make great starting points for an outfit and of course you don’t need to stick to all black. It looks fabulous with pretty much any colour with my personal favourites being purple, red and orange for maximum impact, along with white of course!

For those colour splashes with black, our AKH pocket tops are a must have. For extra warmth and a bit more colour over the coming months, you can always put a Kasbah Tessano underneath. There’s plenty of room.

See all that’s in-store this season

Of course we also have plenty of Robell trouser styles available in black; Marie pull on jeans, Bella turn up crops and Marie narrow trousers and we are also awaiting the arrival of some new fabulous styles. I’m hoping they won’t be delayed for too much longer.

There’s plenty more in store so come on down to see it all in person if you can. Make an appointment to come and see us, or place an order online and we will get your goodies out to you as soon as we can. We do our very best to send things on the day the order is placed but it’s not always possible. And please be aware that there will be Royal Mail postal strikes on the following days in October so there will be disruption with deliveries around these dates: Thursday 13, Thursday 20 and Tuesday 25.

On the subject of Royal Mail, please remember that you will never receive an email or text asking for you to pay extra charges on a parcel sent from us at Bakou. These are generally scams so be careful of links and please please… be careful out there (stolen from Hill Street Blues if anyone remembers that?!).

Stay safe and well ladies

Happy shopping!

September’s winner of our monthly prize draw is Janet B from Banstead. Congratulations Janet! Looking forward to seeing you again soon.
